Ethernity Networks is awarded a key IPTV & Internet TV multicast patent

New traffic manager patent extends Ethernity’s IP rights through IPTV and Internet TV technology

Lod, Israel – Feb 28th, 2011 – Ethernity Networks Ltd, a leading supplier of Multiservice Fabric Flow Processors for Carrier Grade Ethernet appliances, today announced that is has been awarded patent number 7,822,051 by the US Patent Office for a “method and system for transmitting packets”. The patent applies to a mechanism that enables deterministic, zero latency multicast technology of unlimited duplications, with the ability to maintain Quality of Services (QoS) between unicast and multicast packets, together with the ability to assign a different packet encapsulation/header per duplication. The patent also applies to the decrease of the internal chip memory by the use of external DDR memory that holds pointer and descriptor information, while maintaining wire speed duplication and zero latency. This technology enables the decrease in the enormous amount of unicast streams used today for Internet TV , by sending multicast packet from data center or cache server and duplicate and convert the single multicast stream to many unicast streams only at the network edge to maintain current internal TV protocols.
